9am – 10am @ Dawson’s Garden World, 160 Hale Rd, Forrestfield Free Workshop Come along and learn about helping your plants to thrive this Spring. Clare and Rachel from the Kalamunda Community Garden will present this informative workshop on controlling some of the more common pests and diseases that affect our gardens at this time of the year. We will be introducing some DIY recipes, behavioural techniques and ready made products that will help to control both pests and diseases. We will also explore the use of good bacteria and increasing microorganisms to improve the health of your garden which provides resistance to pest and disease. This workshop will be held in the alfresco area of Dawson’s Garden World in Forrestfield. Tea and Coffee is available for purchase from the coffee shop when we finish at 10am. Sunday 9th July 9am - 10.30am No bookings needed Bring along your well-loved secateurs, hand tools and general gardening implements to this interactive workshop. You will learn how to maintain, sharpen and revitalise your tools so they are good as new. This collaborative workshop will be run by your Community Garden members each with a valuable skill set to contribute. Friday 24th March 4pm till 6pm Kalamunda Community Garden (8 Lindasy Street, kalamunda) This Friday afternoon we will be doing some tidying and green manure planting in the vegetable plots. On Sunday we will be making a start on preparing the front area for future native gardens. Sunday 26th March 8.30am till 10.30am At 10.30am when we stop for a cuppa we will be having a general discussion about the future development of the garden. We would value your input into this process so please have a think about what things you would like to see happen at the garden. Some of the things we are looking at are..... a propagation area, native garden, frog pond and large worm farm. What ideas do you have? Come along on Sunday to share your ideas or if you cannot make it on Sunday email them through to be submitted for discussion. We look forward to seeing you there. The busy bee will run from 8.30 til 10.30am afterwards while we are discussing future plans there will be a lovely morning tea to share. Join us for a fabulous morning making Passata Sauce and fresh Pasta... On Sunday the 12th March we will be making Passata sauce with our own tomatoes grown at the Community Garden. During this workshop we will be making fresh pasta and passata sauce. Each participant will take home a jar of passata and get to enjoy a bowl of fresh pasta at the completion of the workshop. This workshop will be held at The Kalamunda Town Hall, (opposite the Post Office) 5 Barber St Kalamunda from 9am to 12noon. All ingredients will be supplied but if you have any 750ml jars we can recycle that would be great! After cooking we will share a meal of freshly made pasta and passata. This workshop has a strict number limitation so please book your place early if you would like to attend.
