7 August Workshop - detail scoming soon The Kalamunda Community Garden was a recent recipient of a Kalamunda Shire Grant, and this enabled us to purchase a much needed mulcher. This will ensure that our waste from tree pruning, stays at the site and can be combined used with other garden waste and the weekend kitchen overflow donated by the local Jack and Jill Cafe to make compost (and also feed the worms). As you can see our compost bins are ready to go!
Thanks to the Kalamunda Shire for their ongoing support of the garden. Tim Parker has worked for over twenty years in the horticultural industry. He is passionate about the many benefits gardening can bring to our lives and has particular interests in edible gardening, sustainable gardening, bee keeping, the gardening media and writing.
Being a gardener, getting into beekeeping seemed like a natural progression for Tim. He says beekeeping is one of those wonderful win win situations, it helps the survival of bees which is hugely important to our food security, but there's also the pollination services bees provide not only in your garden but your local area. And there's the added bonus of that golden honey! Tim’s talk is aimed at giving you a basic understanding of beekeeping, so you can take the plunge and become a beekeeper too. Warning if you come to this talk you will probably fall in love with bees…but that's a good thing! No need to RSVP. Please bring hat, water bottle, and your own mug for morning tea which will be provided after the presentation.
